He spent a while in the ICU in an O2 tent and with a feeding tube, and then had to get a non-cancerous tumor removed from his mouth after his discharge. He was picked up as a stray in San Diego, only 40 pounds, and COVERED in ticks. "We got Charlie after my friend who has a family member that runs a dog rescue kept hounding us to meet this dog that she had been spending a lot of time with when she visited. I’m so grateful for every minute I’ve had with him." He’s a water boy and a fetch king and the absolute love of my life. He’s so smart, so engaged, and so loving. He had one accident in the house the day we brought him home, and that’s it. He’s been the best dog I’ve ever had, and there have been many, though I’ve loved them all deeply. It’s been four years and you would never guess she’s nearly 16 years old. She was rescued by them at one year old and I adopted her at 11 years old! She had never lived with a human before. I had a dog-friendly house and wanted a reason to just be a homebody for a few years. I had just moved to Mexico after a decade of traveling. I miss my Randal Danger every single day, but Little Miss Roxy has definitely eased that pain some." She keeps us entertained with her shenanigans. She loves everyone and is so good with kids. She’s almost two years old now and she is the silliest dog I’ve ever met. She didn’t like men, at first, and certain stances made her flinch. She was three months old when we brought her home and the shelter knew very little about her, but you could tell she had been traumatized. I instantly knew her crazy would blend well with our crazy. They brought her to me and there was no way I was leaving without her. I was waiting outside of the animal shelter before they opened their doors so I could be the first in line to meet her. I call him my angel baby because, as cheesy as it is, I rescued him but he saved me." Thankfully, I’m now 2+ years sober and Rev has continued to help me grow as a person and stay active. Not only has he eased my anxiety and depression, but he was there for me during the worst of my active alcoholism. "I got Rev during my last semester of college with my now ex. She has made our lives an amazing combination of love, gratitude, resilience, chaos, and sloppy wet kisses. And I mean c’mon - no one gives snuggles like a happy pittie. It’s like you’re me, but a dog.' So now we wear our scars proudly and are a comfort to each other when we need it. Daisy was left with several scars on her front legs from her attack, and when we met her for the first time I looked her in the eyes and said, 'I have lots of scars too. Watching how she overcame so much and still has this zest for life (and chasing birds lol), helps push me to keep going when I’m in my dark spots. And Daisy's been a huge help with my mental health as well. They are such best friends and Daisy sleeps at NB’s feet every night. Having Daisy around has been a huge help this past year with NB’s speech. He brightens our day everyday and teaches us that love conquers all."

He hasn’t met an animal or person who isn’t his friend. However, from the very beginning he has been the sweetest, most trusting dog you have ever met. He had mange, cancer (cured now), and he’s mostly blind.

We rescued him from being a street dog in Peru. "Luis Miguel is the most precious nugget of all time. Some think I’m a 'Crazy Dog Lady', but I consider the whole situation a WIN!" - arileesc88 3. Advocating for Porsha has opened me up through these interactions as well. This helped Porsha to build her trust, and also changed people’s perceptions of her 'scary' breed. I realized that dressing her up when we go out comforts her and also makes it more likely for people to approach and begin a conversation. Since Porsha is part pitbull, things can be difficult due to misconceptions about her breed. I made it my mission to protect and comfort her, and continue to help her overcome. Having a dog with anxiety has helped me and given me a sense of purpose.
